Built between 1902 and 1910, the Magnificent Seven are 7 national heritage buildings that are located on Maraval Road in the St Clair neighbourhood of Port of Spain on the western side of the Queen’s Park Savannah. Each building is of unique style based on French Colonial, German, Scottish baronial, Indian Empire, and Moorish Mediterranean influences.

Visit a Historical Fort

We then head up to the historic Fort George for a different angle of the city of Port of Spain from on high.  At this immaculately-preserved 19th-century fort, one can see the original cannons, dungeons, artifacts of the day and a signal station which was established in 1802 and designed by Prince Kofi Nti, son of King Kofi Calclai of Ashanti, West Africa. Great views of the islands dot the Gulf of Paria, and one can even spot the coast of Venezuela on a clear day.

Take a drive up the Lady Young Road to the Lady Young lookout for magnificent vistas of the the capital city.

Hike through the Lush Tropical Forest

Starting at the Blanchisseuse Spring Bridge, you walk through the North Coast Forest, over uphill climbs and downhill slides, across the Paria Beach.  Once at the Paria Beach the hike ends with a short trek to the Paria Waterfall after approximately three hours.

Discover Turtle Rock and other unique coastal features

During this coastal hike, travellers will come across a majestic 50ft peninsula known as Turtle Rock. Its name is derived from the green and marine turtles that frequent the surrounding Caribbean Sea. This spot overlooks the coast and is an ideal backdrop for pictures.

Take a rejuvenating swim at the Waterfall

At the end of your hike, one of the most remarkable hidden waterfalls comes into view. Clean, clear, pristine waters of the Northern Range tumble over 20 feet of rocks into a refreshing and blissful plunge pool, to rejuvenate the body and mind for the hike out.

Ziplining

Experience an exhilarating whirlwind ride above the Tucker Valley forest canopy with this zipline adventure in beautiful Chaguaramas, Trinidad.  Enjoy a breathtaking bird’s eye view of nearby Macqueripe Bay as you zing along the seven-line course at an elevation of 100 feet.  The fun does not stop there, as your nerves will be tested as you negotiate five canopy walks – rope net bridges that take you from one zipline to another!

We start with a tour of Fort King George, which overlooks Scarborough, and is the best preserved colonial fort in Tobago. Recently refurbished to return it to its old colonial stature, Fort King George stands as a resilient monument of Tobago’s turbulent military past.

The fort is also home to the Tobago Museum which occupies what was once the Barrack Guard House. The Museum exhibits Amerindian artifacts, military relics, shells and documents from the colonial period.

The Coast of Trinidad

Take a scenic drive on the picturesque North Coast of Trinidad.

Maracas Bay

The tumbling waves, with an average height of 1 meter (3 feet), make it an ideal place for body or board surfing. The expanse of beach is enough to accommodate the sunbather who likes her space or the nature lover who welcomes the sea blast as they set up camp. Maracas Bay has also garnered the reputation for being the lunch spot with an idyllic view. Known as the home of bake and shark, this destination is host to a variety of vendors who prepare the tasty offering.

Las Cuevas Bay

In contrast to Maracas Bay which is some 10 to 15 minutes away, the waters here are less robust and attract sea bathers who appreciate the calmer breakers of 80 centimeters. It is also more secluded and less crowded than Maracas Bay. It’s a sheltered horseshoe bay which provides protection from the wind, making it an ideal spot for swimmers.

Blanchisseuse Beach and River

Marianne River meets Marianne Beach on Trinidad’s North Coast and is ideal for kayaking, swimming and recreation.
