Take an offshore adventure and descend 100 feet underground to discover this extraordinary cave system filled with stalactites and stalagmites and a crystal clear salt water pool at its base that shimmers like glass.
We meet on Dock Road, which is located just outside of the Port of Spain Cruise Ship Complex. From there, we take a scenic driving tour along the coast of North-Western Peninsula of Trinidad. Along the way you will catch views of the Gulf of Paria, the Chaguaramas Boardwalk, the army heliport and various bays.
We arrive at a marina in Chaguaramas where we swap modes of transportation and board a boat and journey via sea to the beautiful Gaspar Grande Island (a.k.a Gasparee Island). This short 10 minute boat ride affords you the opportunity to view Gaspar Grande island, the Coast Guard base and the other islands along the peninsula. As well, you may catch glimpses of Venezuela in the distance if the weather is clear.
On arriving at Gaspar Grande, you start an easy uphill hike that will take about 25 minutes. It is fairly steep so pace yourself. Along the way you will learn of the island’s human and natural history of the island.
After a short rest, you will enter the cave from the top, and descend a well-lit metal staircase which leads to the extraordinary cave system 100 feet below that is filled with stalactites and stalagmites, sinkholes and a crystal pool that shimmers like glass, reflecting the colours of the light that filters through the cave.
Here the cave formations are the best in Trinidad and Tobago with some shaped like dinosaurs and others like angels. You will spend up to one hour in the cave.

After approximately an hour, you will exit and return to the boat along the same path. The boat returns to the mainland and you will be transported back to Port of Spain to the cruise ship.
Once you disembark the cruise ship, please exit the cruise ship complex onto Dock Road, which is the road immediately outside the gates of the complex. One of our representatives will be standing on Dock Road with a sign with the words “Destination Trinidad and Tobago”.
Please note that the tour includes a 25 minute uphill hike. Groups including infants, small children and persons with mobility issues should note carefully and make appropriate arrangements for these persons.
